The show felt like a vanity project to me and in the end I do feel like it is kind of vain to wink at the possibility you might have autism, and then be like “god I hope not” and then be like “well I’m allowed to fly planes so I’m smart and good and not disabled and that makes me happy.”

I get that Nathan Fielder doesn’t want an autism diagnosis because then he might not be able to fly planes as a hobby, but if the Rehearsal had actually included him getting a diagnosis and advocating for autists it would have been 1000x more powerful than showcasing him flying a plane as a hobby.

North America was colonized by humans way before Clovis and way way before 20,000 years ago. There is simply no way that we could have the number of linguistic isolates in the Pacific Northwest as we do in a smaller period of time
