The more time I spend editing, the harder it gets to validate an idea for a novel. There are lots of plots and concepts and themes I’d love to dig into, that excite me and make me want to write, but it feels like a little thrill is not enough.

Is this idea worth a significant chunk of your life, the finite number of days and weeks and months you will spend on this earth? Will you get along? Will you be able to resolve your differences?

There are some parallels in the two works that are interesting: kink, self harm, bugs, and the pain of existing and seeking intimacy and community in a world that is determined to kill you.

Prepping my meals, laying out my clothes, hyperfocusing on one thing at a time and developing solid routines so that I need to make fewer decisions in a day all help lower the bar so my executive function doesn’t have to be as good.

Medication has helped me immensely but I don’t think switching tasks or juggling multiple projects is ever going to be easy for me. To the extent that my life requires me to do these things, I will likely underperform.

It was not a nightmare even though some of the faces were clearly demonic, and interestingly the television show was not about the fact that these people have multiple faces on their bodies, it was about planning some kind of party.

It’s always cold in the room when I wake up, so I’ve been wearing a blanket sized scarf around my shoulders while writing and it makes me feel like a vampire, or a saint.

Editing demands a patience I am not practiced in.

You develop a tool kit for fixing boring paragraphs and stale dialogue, but sometimes you get a problem like “these nested stories need to be equal and in conversation with each other” and one is outshining the other.

I didn't use this exclusively, but I logged a lot of hours watching this channel on YouTube, and I feel like it was helpful.

I also spent many hours listening to Thai podcasts above my level and understanding almost nothing, like some people recommend, and probably got nothing out that! 😅

An average ESL student in a classroom does get a lot of hours of simplified English, which is comprehensible input!

Does that mean teaching English in English the way it is normally done is empirically different than the comprehensible input methods that are considered novel and efficient now? I honestly don't know, but I'm inclined to believe the two are probably closer together than CI advocates would admit.
