It doesn't. She should have broken with Biden--that's on her--and voters still should have voted for her because she was still a gobsmackingly superior choice to Trump--that's on them. Both have agency and responsibility. We all have to live in this world.

Those same people chose to be in opposition to Trump over that issue (and all others) rather than Harris. I wonder how that's working out for those people (and all others) and whether such an outcome was predictable and avoidable.

I'm all for a big antifascist tent that leaves internal disputes unresolved for now, but when it comes to online leftists, I just don't know. Many of them seem to have as much contempt for democracy as MAGA because in their minds, any system that permits capitalism to exist must be irredeemable.

Members of Congress should be on the streets of DC—where many of them live! —putting their bodies between these law-abiding citizens and ICE. Congress should be demanding names, and promising ICE will be prosecuted when US democracy is re-established.

New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

The correct response to Republicans widely depicting the coming protests as terrorism is to go out and protest. Each person should get 10 more people to do so. If Republicans are going to hint at violent state responses to legitimate protest, the only answer is bigger numbers.
