Everyone has very strong/insane opinions about audio gear but basically I want to spend less than $800-$1000 if possible and I am trying to tease out whether it makes more sense to get a sensible setup that sounds good (better than budget but not insane) or pair up a turntable and a Sonos 5 instead.

I am once again entertaining the idea of trying to find a record player and speaker setup for my pile of vinyls.

I had a terrible and expensive experience trying to make the Victrola Onyx work with my Sonos system a while back but am struggling to find alternatives that offer a similar simplicity.

I think there's a lot that you can glean here in terms of Sony seeing these games as setting the template for its prestige AAA strategy going forward but it's tricky to try and tease out how much these games have aged poorly and how much of them just isn't my thing.

Started the second Uncharted and I think I like it even less than the first one. As a fan of pulpy capers, I will push on. All too often though, I think the series plays like a weird Western market counterpart to MGS that learned all the wrong lessons from Kojima's success.

Ubisoft could not have handled a Reconstruction Era Assassin's Creed:

On one hand, this does look pretty bad. On the other hand, I do not trust the publisher responsible for Far Cry 5 and the "non-politics" of The Division to deliver on this premise.

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

I mean it sounds great but if you can't recommend it...

New Multiplier just went out! It's a timely check-in with one of the biggest CR fans I know (@rhunwords.com) about what the inevitable expansion of the biggest name in actual play into the gaming landscape might look like: open.substack.com/pub/multipli...
Is a Critical Role video game destined to disappoint?

8th MS Team was good Gundam, though it dragged a little for me towards the end. Thunderbolts: December Sky was similarly great, though the follow up wasn't as strong imo. Finally, The Origin was a little overwrought but a lavish and fun full circle way to end my journey through the UC for now.

I did not love Narrative as much as I liked Unicorn. F91 was fine/mostly forgettable. War in the Pocket is as good as everyone says, Hathaway was surprisingly good (espionage thriller set in uc is such a great premise) and Stardust Memory seems to be solid so far.

As always, thrilled for a neat lil story like this to find a home.

Char's Counterattack may have fully delivered on my expectations but Unicorn may have delivered me to nirvana. True contender for my new favourite Gundam series.

[Listening to the Taylor Swift album at 2.5x so I can get this review out before everyone else] I have to say, her pitch is too high on every single song. Disappointing. Incredible breath control singing that fast though

Gundam Update: I have reached Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ! It's fascinating to see the show reset its status quo and power levels after the end of Zeta, Judau is a refreshing change from Camille and Mashymre Cello may well be the best Zeon character since Char.

I started playing through the original Uncharted out of curiosity and it's crazy that a game with this much platforming and shooting in it can make it feel so bad to do both of those things.

30 bucks a month lets you buy 1-2 indie games, support an independent games media outlet of your choice, and the majority of your money will go to a human being who worked hard to make something cool

This is sick as hell - I've been holding off for better controller support to check this out so hopefully that's on the cards (no pun intended)
