It's like the change Americans thought they'd get from Obama was so thoroughly disappointed, that the cultural zeitgeist has gone in almost the exact opposite direction from 2008

I think that ironically memeing Trump has done so much damage by sane washing him and making him a familiar silly figure to people. Seeing his as a clown seriously undersells how much of a threat he is.

I think ironic humor has done more to spread right wing and generally misogynist ideas than almost anything else. So many incel words have entered the lexicon because of their ironic use but they gain real currency. I dont think its useful to adopt that lingo.
