We're still trying to wrap our heads around what happened in Minneapolis this week. It's senseless. It's oppressive. It's profoundly immoral. This Saturday we will do a short and snowy 30 to 45 minute MTB ride in the Middlesex Fells to join nationwide cycling communities standing with Minneapolis and the initiatives started by @angrycatfish. We ride in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis in memory of Alex Pretti, Keith Porter, Renee Good, Parady La, Heber Sanchaz Dominguez, Victor Manuel Diaz, Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Luis Gustavo Nunez Cacares, Geraldo Lucas Campos, and everyone who has suffered at the hands of ICE. The ride starts & ends at JRA Cycles. Meet at 3:45, Ride at 4pm. This ride is beginner friendly and open to everyone with a MOUNTAIN BIKE or FAT BIKE. The speed will be slow, the distance short, and we expect to walk parts of the fire roads because of the poor conditions. We'll be there and we encourage you to be there too. HELMETS and Front + Rear LIGHTS required.

NEMBA leads a bike ride on the ice in the Blue Hills (Randolph / Canton) on Sunday. Studded tires are required for this fun adventure!
Got studs? Tomorrow AM Sunday 1/4 group of us will be riding on Ponkapoag Pond (Ponky) at Blue Hills. The ice thickness is 6-8 inches (per ice fishermen) and already been ridden last few days. Pond is only 4-7ft deep so one of the safest bets for pond riding. If you have not ridden ice pond, its amazing experience with only few times a year its safe to ride. Safety rules for the ride: Studded tires are must to be on the ice. We must maintain 15-25ft spacing on the ice even when stopping. One piece of bright color clothing is suggested to see you. Expect about 3-4 miles of ice riding with another 7-8 miles of dirt/singletrack. 10-12 miles in total. Quincycles invites you to join their Cranksgiving ride Nov 8.

On Sunday October 5 the Middlesex Canal Association leads their autumn bike ride retracing the route and history of the canal from Charlestown to Lowell
Historic Bicycle Tour of Mid dlesex Canal This coming Sunday, October 5, 2024, the Middlesex Canal Association and the Middlesex Canal Commission will sponsor the 23rd annual historic bicycle tour of the Middlesex Canal. The ride will start at the Canal marker on the front of the Sullivan Square MBTA station just to the right of the main entrance. We will leave promptly at 9:00.
