This ride is beginner friendly and open to everyone with a MOUNTAIN BIKE or FAT BIKE. The speed will be slow, the distance short, and we expect to walk parts of the fire roads because of the poor conditions. We’ll be there and we encourage you to be there too.”

We enjoyed today’s bike ride with the @boston.gov & @streets.boston.gov in JP and Franklin Park, followed by delicious hot cocoa at the Ula Cafe!

There were moments when the distance felt impossible. Studying a map one night in Indiana on his first cross-continental trip, Abouhamad panicked at how little ground he seemed to have covered. From then on, he stopped thinking about Argentina and focused instead on the next city.

Some offered backyards where he could pitch a tent; others invited him inside for dinner or a shower or a hot cup of tea. Through a hospitality network app for touring cyclists, he stayed with professors, retirees, and former riders who recognized what he was attempting almost immediately.

On April 2, 2022, he began his trip to Argentina, and the kindness of strangers helped him every step of the way.
