The funny thing is, I know it's the second city jibe that you're most disappointed by.

I support two state as it seems the only plausible way of substantially improving on the status quo.
I don't want to make the perfection of a stable multi-ethnic new state the enemy of the good.

We all agree that things should be legal unless officially banned.

Why the hell are we banning anything and everything from being built unless it's officially and individually legalised?

After two decades of zero growth, maybe, just maybe, we need to develop in order to develop.

A pub in London Fields is trying to put up a timber canopy over its outside seating.

The planning process so far has taken FIVE YEARS. That’s longer than it took to build the entire Hoover Dam. capx.co/nimby-watch-...

There's also lots of Right-wing think-tanks to draw from too, and while some of their research is 'heroically optimistic', not all of it is.

(Admittedly, the better parts tend to be 'difficult-but-correct', rather than "Throwing 100,000s of driven, working-age people out of the country = Profit").

It does seem that the BBC News treats criticism from liberals and the Left as proof of its objectivity and criticisms from the Right as proof of its bias.

Given that it's primarily funded by under 50s who lean left, for the benefit for the right-leaning pensioners, this might not be sustainable.

Famously, teachers never have a recess during summer.

I realise I'm committing the cardinal sin of viewing the US and UK as interchangeable, but I don't think many McCain, Powell, Romney types turned their back on the Republicans following MAGA.
I'm sceptical that many One-Nation Tories would really switch to the Lib Dems over Reform, esp long-term.

Yes, but I would humbly suggest that he wasn't drawn to the economic Left agenda of Trump.

Attacks on Jews because they're Jewish haven't ended when the historical circumstances have evolved.
Whether they're been deemed too separate, too integrated, too religious, too irreligious, too capitalist, too communist, anti-Semitism has always found a way to prevail.

He's also said that the future of the Left is on the 'left side' of the Trump tent.

Idiocy, really.

I didn't pick up on him being autistic really, just suited puzzles rather than 'macho' police.
Interesting choice to make him a teacher; not sure how well it suited his character.

It was never 'pretty near extinct'.
It declined to about 40% of the population by the '60s, from around 80% at the turn of the century.
It declined further to around 20% by the 1990s, with the decline being arrested and stabilising.
It's now more evenly spread, and ability less binary.

You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

I guess it's the brand of murderous jew-hatred that's unclear, which is additionally depressing in itself

Still, at least it is a distraction from spending Yom Kippur contemplating “which of the ideologies that want us dead is behind this attack, and how will it strengthen the other ideologies that also want us dead?”

People get the politicians they deserve.
The best change would be getting more voters who are even mildly interested in policy and government.
Surprisingly few voters actually are!

Yeah, but they're just clickbait.

It is much easier to see a GP in other countries.

It really isn't much more complicated than booking a flight.

It is reasonable to want booking a GP visit to be as good as comparable countries.

My very non-Bluesky opinion is that a technocratic government is probably the best chance Gazans have to end their drawn-out genocide and to avoid their ethnic cleansing.
Also, Blair is probably the most competent (politically & administratively) person to lead it.

I guess I am one of the 200.

Do we think Tony believes that his job is to create a safe, secure, habitable Gaza Strip to provide a stable future for its population? I don’t think there can be more than a couple of hundred people anywhere on Earth who actually believe that’s what’s happening here.
