I never posted a single thing in my time over on X but this place just seems so much more chill, friendly and approachable. I look forward to continue to learn from all the brilliant people I follow (and some I don’t) on here. Here’s a pic of my pup below as a welcome

I’ve owned $MAA for multiple years. They announced a 1% div increase which doesn’t exactly spur confidence in the turnaround they have been waiting for. Do we think sunbelt oversupply is still in play or is this a sign they think local economy is slowing which in turn continues to weigh on rents?

As a pediatrician RSV is one of the scariest illnesses out there for little kids as there is no treatment. The kids who end up in the hospital you just monitor, provide respiratory support and hope they get better. The new antibody injections have been shown to drastically reduce hospitalization.

It seems like some really good non-AI companies that have traded at higher multiples ($LIN, $WSO, $ZTS, $CPRT, $CTAS) are now just slowly drifting down and doing it pretty consistently. Feels different than recent drawdowns. Thoughts?

Do people have suggestions on investors to follow on here who analyze or comment on earnings outside the Mag 7. I feel like that’s one thing lacking on Bluesky that I used to see a lot of on twitter.

Bought $ZTS today. I think the OA Pain stuff is “cooked” as the kids say. They still have great free cash flow, buy back 1% of their stock per year and have a growing dividend at a low payout ratio. Also a pipeline tailwind with the R&D stuff in the BBB. Curious if anyone else did the same?

My earnings call summary of the day is that people aren’t buying new HVAC systems (especially homebuilders), new rent leases are going down, health insurance is a mess and cyclicals are all talking about their long term track record because things are not looking great right now. All not ideal

Anybody listen to the $CI call yet? Seems like getting rid of rebates in their PBM business and “renegotiation” of long term contracts was forced upon them. One of their biggest clients is DOD. Wonder if the UNH/CVS will have to follow suit? Anybody have thoughts?

Curious if anybody has thoughts on $TW and/or $MKTX. I know TW is a share taker and more pricey and MKTX is losing share and cheaper but both are down about 20-25% in past 6 months. Are they down just due to the lack of bond market volatility over that time? If things go to crap do they benefit?

I love my job as a pediatrician but it’s getting harder to get people to vaccinate. Feels like a race that we’re slowly losing. I try and work with families to build relationships over time and earn trust but often it’s not enough anymore. All I can say is please vaccinate, I highly recommend it

What stocks are people looking at with the drop? I’ve been looking at $AXP, $TMO and $URI more lately. AXP and URI look a bit more dicey if we’re going into a recession. $TMO I’m a little worried about all of the US budget cuts (NIH, universities) but they’re a global business so should be fine.

Under the radar stock #3. $CSL. Mainly commercial roofing and building frames. Focus on simple install systems with the goal of reducing manpower for contractors. Steady grower of revenues, margin and dividend. Slow , small bolt on M&A. Cyclical but focus on replacement roofing makes it less so.

Another under the radar stock I own. $ENSG. Mainly run Rehab/post acute care facilities. They also buy the real estate and have triple net leases with operators, often one of their own subsidiaries. Slow consolidation in fragmented industry. Secular tailwinds with aging population.

One of my better investments I never see a mention of is $CRAI. Consulting firm specializing in legal consulting/research/expert testimony (for lawyers and corporations). No debt, growing dividend, buys back some stock. My thesis has always been our country is getting more litigious over time.

I feel like I get a lot of Econ/macro stuff on Bluesky but not much idea generation or specific company talk. Do people have accounts they follow for idea generation on here. Thank you

As an owner of $WST for past 2-3 years I’m back to where I bought in. I still think they are a solid pick and shovel play for the pharma industry. I never really thought of them as a manufacturing company so the loss of CGM’s doesn’t bother me much (not great) but would love to hear from others.

OnSemi on their earnings call said they expected a 25% dip in automotive in 1Q and their biggest customers are the Chinese and US automakers (specifically Tesla). Probably not the best sign for the world economy, although the Tesla part makes me happy.

I keep hearing on earnings calls how companies are expecting a slow first half with a pickup in 2nd half of year, especially in solid industrials and real estate deals (LIN, CSL, MAA, PLD). I’m starting to worry a bit about what happens 2nd half if that doesn’t happen. Anyway one else hearing this?

Looking forward to the Q4 2024 HF and Investor letters being published. Reddit sub SecurityAnalysis does a good job compiling them. This will be an ongoing thread.

I try and stay out of politics on here but what a piece of crap Musk is. I’m glad I left Twitter and will never willingly give a dime to any of his companies. I hope everyone considers doing the same. Think with your brain and speak with your wallet.

Bought a little more $ON this morning as I think it’s a reasonable valuation on near trough earnings and I like the company for the long term. That being said it scares me that 80% of revenue is auto and industrial which look to both be slowing still with no signs of picking up.

Started a position in PLD the last couple days and added a bit to my small ENTG position. I still have some to learn about both and ENTG still expensive but they both seem like integral, well run companies with tailwinds. Also feel like bellwethers to follow in industrial/consumer and semis
