Free—mostly—unless old Bedford charged you a penny for scratchings. If you were lucky you'd get a bit of cod mixed in. Heaven, that was. Omega-rich, too, though we didn't call it that. We called it dinner. Or supper, depending on the company and how puritanical their eating routines.
