The 2024 San Diego Wavé might have had the most “peaked too early” season a sport has ever seen. It kicked off with an 88th minute cup-clinching goal from the legend herself, Alex Morgan. It ended wit...

It’s tough to gauge financials with most of that info not public but they have a healthy amount to spend considering no HIP player yet, Girma layaway payment, plus Maria Sanchez, Sheridan and Cascarino off the books.

The teams should be announcing the transfer terms shortly, which I believe should illuminate Chicago's willingness to take this deal
Multiple sources confirm that Brazilian international Ludmila da Silva will be announced for San Diego Wave. This comes on the heels of the reported rumors of Delphine Cascarino transferring back to France.

Really thought we would see Girma and Morgan statues, a generational tenure from Stoney and a forever keeper in Sheridan. Instead we got Chelsea FC layaway payments, a diabolical firing, a broken contract and this tucked away in some corner

Call this what it is: this is the NWSL's version of the NBA Supermax rule. It's not a Designated Player rule by any stretch. It's highly contingent on criteria that is 1000% subjective and reliant on European media to actually pay attention to the league, which they have proven not to do.
The NWSL introduces the High Impact Player rule.

bummed about Chiamaka being gone, she looked solid in that game vs KC but being free from Robbe minutes is huge. The Sevens tourney kinda showed what Stoney and Jonas see at practice from her but it did not translate in games

San Diego Wave FC defeats Liga MX champs Tigres 3-0 in the final to win the Fort Lauderdale edition of World Sevens, and win $2M — over half the year's #NWSL salary cap for three days of work. The Wave won all five games played this weekend.
Unrelated but ironic to current NWSL events: San Diego Wave's 7v7 World Sevens team is one of four remaining in the hunt today for a $2M prize for the winner of the three-day tournament.

#NWSL's team salary cap for the whole 2025 season was $3.5M.
