Wednesday deadline looms for inactive MLS teams to decide on contract options. Many have already announced their decisions. D.C United has not.

I would expect DCU to decline Christian Benteke’s option and try to negotiate a non-DP deal. He turns 35 next week. 2025 salary: $4.5 million.

The week after the championship is always wild, but the Thorns quietly posted a -2.8 xGD from the break onward.

That's inflated too, as they put up +4.9 in 2 outlier games (wins over Reign & Dash). Inferior xG to 10 of final 15 opponents.
BREAKING #NWSL NEWS: The Portland Thorns have fired head coach Rob Gale.

The Thorns finished third this season and made the semifinals. Results were up and down, although they also dealt with lots of key absences.

Re: rumored DCU target Louis Munteanu:

Currently the assists per 90 leader in the Romanian top flight (0.69, nice), & 2nd in goals+assists per 90 (0.83).

In 2024-25: 0.76 goals per 90 (league leader), but only 0.07 assists per 90. (1/2)

All of this is true, and if you know anything about these people, I'd say hunker down, lock the doors, pour something that will stiffen your spine, and fall into the abyss.

If you do not know these people: for god's sake turn back now, burn your computer and phone

#DCU is reportedly in pursuit of a Romanian striker as the first real transfer rumor of the offseason is here!
Could DC United be pursuing Romanian striker Louis Munteanu?
There hasn't been a ton of chatter about what DC United is doing during the offseason in terms of bringing in players. However, we might have our first idea of the type of players head coach René Weiler and general manager Erkut Sogut want to add to bolster the roster. According to a report by Romanian outlet I Am Sport…

It's a placeholder name that I fear we are stuck with, which is a distinct echo of MLS's Atlantic Cup.

But either way, whether or not the locals feel it's a rivalry or something else, breaking 7 figures means it'll be treated like one going forward.
Also: We don't have to keep calling it District vs. Empire! But Spirit-Gotham has the juice. Would expect to see those games in some nice national TV slots next season

The league withheld the materials from the USL Championship trophy celebration in retaliation for the players walking out in their USLPA shirts along with cutting out broadcast angles with that message.

Kysha Sylla posted a goodbye message on Instagram.

No announcements from the Spirit yet, but it seems clear they're not going to renew her loan from Lyonnes.

The Spirit enter the offseason with an intl. roster spot crunch: 13 players (incl. Sylla) for 10 spots...but that'll be 8 spots on 1/1/2026.

Two things can be true:

1. Gotham has Esther, Lavelle, Shaw, and Purce, you're always at risk for their higher conversion rate settling a coin-flip game.

2. Shouldn't Gotham be in far fewer coin-flip games, seeing as how they have the players they have?
Gotham scored off their biggest chance of the match, fairly consistent with their season. A 54% conversion rate on great chances is probably unsustainable, but Gotham's finishing can stay bonkers longer than you can stay solvent.
