People seem pretty sure that Venezuela is all about controlling the Epstein files. I’m wondering if it doesn’t have more to do with Jeff Smith’s testimony.

“I know about people who talk about suffering for the common good. It’s never bloody them! When you hear a man shouting ‘Forward, brave comrades!’ you’ll see he’s the one behind the bloody big rock and wearing the only really arrow-proof helmet! Understand?”

Just a reminder that ICE didn't exist until 2002. It's not some longstanding institution that must be maintained. It was created as a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11, and it could be gotten rid of as easily as it was created.

Maria Marchand sees Venezuela;
“..a … beacon of hope and opportunity, of democracy”, as the result of the US grabbing their oil tanker.
Grabbed by an authoritarian wanna be dictator? I don’t think so.

The calls from America this weekend to "abolish the EU" are for one simple reason: the EU is the only thing that can keep European nation-states from becoming Russian or American vassals.
The US has declared rhetorical war on the EU
The calls from America this weekend to destroy the EU are revealing. They hate the union because it's the only thing that can keep European countries from being Russian or American vassals.

You'd think it would be more concerning to this country that the President of the United States keeps confusing a cognitive decline test with an IQ Test.....

I am begging one, JUST ONE, congressional reporter to follow up with Mike Johnson by asking, "What are the American people to make of a Speaker of the House who tells us daily that he's not aware of what's happening on Capitol Hill and the White House?"

My friend was called on her way home and told her dog had been hit by a car and needed emergency surgery. They required $5,000 be posted to them first. They knew her dog’s name and description maybe from Facebook or an online pet site.
She smelled a rat in time, but not before shock and tears.

Closing the airspace over a foreign country is a de facto declaration of war but we’ve pushed so far into “let’s conspicuously underreact so everyone knows we’re savvy people not overreacting to Trump” that his de facto declaration of war is literally not even being reported on the news

Missing, the percentage of Assaults citizens take from ICE, and how much they increased by.

When I see reporting like this, all I can think of is

This is a damn Hometown Referee calling things.

Can we start with citizens united and the impeachment of Roberts for running an evil Supreme Court?
How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

1. Break up corporate monopolies

2. Continue building union power

3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.

Try Terry Pratchett’s Disc World series. Your spirits will lift and you’ll have a lot of food for thought to nourish your interest in the human condition.
I've started to read fiction again, after a hiatus of several years. It hasn't taken me long to conclude that at my age, life is just too short for badly-written, ineptly edited police procedurals. In my earlier days, I rarely gave up on a book I'd started, but I've abandoned 3 in the last 2 days!
