The idea that there was a massive, serious threat but that every single company was able to fix every problem so that nothing went wrong seems a little unlikely.
This is not hard. Journalists doing their job will count as woke and be eliminated.
Remarkably, SCOTUS has underperformed my abysmal expectations.
Actually, it may not be hard to predict. The US does not have policies anymore. We have nervous tics and fits of temper. It’s like trying to interpret the “policies” of a 3-year old.
More charitably RMN might mean that if people at the opera were heckling Schumer then people in other parts of the city will treat him even worse.
There’s also a huge portion of the population that takes it for granted that illegal aliens are all collecting huge amounts of welfare.
It’s not that Kimmel suffered, compared to other MAGA victims, but, if someone as powerful and popular as Kimmel could be silenced for saying something MAGA dislikes, what does that mean for all the less powerful people trying to tell the public the truth about what Trump and his movement are doing.

CBS may not be showing servility. They may just support the fascist agenda.
Judicial tyranny is kind of where we are.

"Obedience must of course be secured for the command of a court. . . . But courts should be explicit and precise in their commands and should only then be strict in exacting compliance. To be both strict and indefinite is a kind of judicial tyranny."

I think they’ve gone so far down this road that they don’t have a way back. If Trump loses power there’s a good chance that they do too. All they have to do is rubber stamp a project that they sympathize with. The only danger is if they suddenly develop a conscience and that seems unlikely.
But the Fascists didn’t make the trains run on time.
If only there were some, say, Declaration talking about what the soldiers at Valley Forge were fighting for and whether it involved any universal principles.

man. if Eric Schmitt's speech to NatCon isn't a sign of the times, i don't know what is
"America is not a 'universal nation.' ... [American] principles are not abstractions. They are living, breathing things — rooted in a people and embodied in a way of life."

Senator Eric Schmitt got a standing ovation at Nat Con DC for saying America as a nation is the property of a distinct ethnic people.

Americans are a mix of “the most adventurous, the most courageous, the most curious and innovative” of the English, Scotch-Irish, and continental Europeans, who came as settlers and have spent hundreds of years building, fighting, and dying for "a homeland for themselves and their descendants."

"We’re a nation of settlers, explorers, and pioneers — born on the ocean waters that carried the first ships to our shores and forged in the crucible of a wild frontier. Our people tamed a continent, built a civilization from the wilderness, and wrote our nation’s name in history.

"Our ancestors were driven here by destiny, possessed by urgent and fiery conviction, by burning belief, devoted to their cause and their God."

"The Continental Army soldiers dying of frostbite at Valley Forge, Pilgrims struggling to survive in the hard winter soil of Plymouth, pioneers striking out from Missouri for the wild and dangerous frontier, [and] outnumbered Kentucky settlers, repelling wave after wave of Indian war band attacks from behind their stockade walls, would be astonished to hear that they were only fighting for a 'proposition.'

"They believed they were forging a nation — a homeland for themselves and their descendants."

"America, in all its glory, is their gift to us, handed down across the generations.

"It belongs to us. It’s our birthright, our heritage, our destiny.

"If America is everything and everyone, then it is nothing and no one at all."
If only there were some, say, Declaration talking about what the soldiers at Valley Forge were fighting for and whether it involved any universal principles.
Not that I’d vote for him anyway, but I’m somewhat confused why Eric Adams isn’t spending more time claiming credit for the large drop in crime that occurred in his watch.
So there is a tribe of little Jeffrey Epsteins out there somewhere unaware of their parentage?

It’s also a desire for hierarchy. A desire for a society where certain groups are clearly on top, others are clearly below and the ones below know their place.
As usual The Onion has the answer.
At other times people are referring to distractions for Trump’s base where Trump takes actions are that theoretically intended to distract their attention from , say the Epstein files. Probably not as important but possibly useful in finding ways to rally opposition to Trump.
