When I was in grade school, 2nd/3rd grade or so, we had to write an original story in school. My story (and I do not kid) was entitled "Former David McDowell", the premise of which involved my brother (David) being eaten by a toilet. So, I've been all aboard the killer toilet story idea for yrs.

This is hilarious and reminds me of this science show on sharks the kids used to watch that said something like "more people are injured by toilets each year than by sharks", which for obvious reasons became a popular statistic to repeat in our house for a few years.

Research in this space is growing quickly. I last taught this course in Spring 2024, and more than 1/3 of the papers we'll be reading next semester were not published at that time.
