My current wait on USCIS to process my application is 16 months (began at 21)… and that’s before my consular interview / health checks. And yes I’m married to an American… And that doesn’t include the months of faff collecting evidence for the application beforehand… it feels like perpetual limbo.

People are always shocked when I tell them it took 13 months for my husband to acquire a green card and join me in the US. People just assume it's instantaneous when you're married to a citizen. It's absolutely not.

Believe it or not, this is only the second most naive and clueless thing I've been told about the immigration system. Number one belongs to my own mother, who was so insulated by my dad that she actually asked me "can't I just bring a relative from Brazil to help me care for the house?"

I’m firmly of the belief that “better” kit ≠ “better” music. And to be fair, Roland are proof of that, both the 808 & 303 were flops, very expensive failures. But what gave them their iconic status isn’t some mythical Roland “magic”, it was humans hearing flaws and leaning into them.

No matter how good the Roland TR-1000 is, you absolutely do not need it, it will add zero to your music you can’t already do cheap and, at £2600, you will feel extreme buyers remorse.

Not saying I don’t want one, just that it’s a midlife crisis box, not some inspiring new take on drums etc.

It makes it so bland, 50 guys doing a tonverk video then the same 50 doing a TR1000 and on and on. It’s where a “bad gear” type channel could be interesting, like a “cheap alternative to current trend” channel, but what you actually got was more tonverk.

It is wild how badly Bungie have managed this, they knew Final Shape was a closing bracket for a lot of players and had absolutely no plan for that… in another timeline a remastered D1 would’ve dropped by now to tie people over for an eventual D3… but nah, just let it rot I guess.

Weirdly, the “trademark sound” Goldie found wasn’t time-stretching at all. What the H3000 was doing was pitch scaling, retaining duration whilst changing pitch, which is the opposite of time stretching.

Reason people called it time-stretching is that’s what producers guessed he was doing.
