In fact I'm going again today because a) the weather b) my local cinema is half the price of a city one c) I feel it deserves a fair crack, and god damn I'm becoming a Chalomet fan after his Dylan and now this.

I would definitely argue these films are mini-masterpieces of British film-making.

I'm sure it was a decision, like Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. But it felt like a gimmick to me. I will give it another go though.

That's the famous one, but I've never seen it - The Spirit of Dark Lonely Water was enough to keep me out of trouble!

I think it might help if you're forewarned, the 1950s production design and costumes are wonderful but the soundtrack is, obviously deliberately but weirdly, anachronistic.
