The app _is a shell script_. Admittedly the script does pretty much exactly what I thought it would – tell Steam to launch the game. By using a shell script all the signing issues are bypassed because the script itself is not an executable binary.

Steam > Library > Balatro (yes.) > Right click > Add desktop shortcut.

And now I have Balatro.app on my desktop.

Wait. Balatro _dot app_?

That's some prime screen real-estate being used to... see bugs on a repo I looked at 10 years ago, or... find out what a hash table (in JavaScript) is? Those are clearly, obviously, useless to me.
