Brandon Aubrey wins it, after a remarkable comeback for Dallas.

By design, here is my very large feature on Aubrey and this incredible, recording-breaking era for kickers.

I went on a journey — to Las Vegas, San Diego, Dallas, and Buffalo — to learn about the NFL’s long-distance kicking revolution.

From a camp of pro hopefuls to Brandon Aubrey, Cameron Dicker, Cam Little and more.

Here’s my story on the art of kicking.

This story is so much fun to read.
"I tell people, my life's not real."

To be an NFL long snapper is to have your worth measured by a half-dozen plays every week.

It's also a shot at football nirvana.

A story for @theathletic.com on the sport's last happy men, and what they're chasing.

A position once akin to a glorified ball boy is attracting better athletes, and specialized training and technological advances are pushing the limits.

A very nice review of Hammered in Policy Magazine, that gets right to the message of Dave Schultz’s new memoir about hockey, fighting, abuse and recovery.

I wrote about watching the Jays win the ALCS alone in a Texas bar, and the rush of connection and nostalgia I felt when Springer hit that home run.

(Apologies to the Mariners fans several seats down.)

Bobby Webster, once a wunderkind GM, now runs the Raptors.

“He’s going to head a team, at some point,” Masai Ujiri told me several years ago.
“Hopefully he doesn’t overthrow me.”

Good time to dust off this Webster profile.

A disturbing, irresponsible and shameful action by the City of Brampton.

The city would rather target an organization that has helped its most vulnerable residents since 1999, instead of taking responsibility itself.

In the Hockey Canada sexual assault trial five players were on trial and, to some degree, so too was the woman.

But the case has always been viewed more broadly.

In the end, what message are we left with?
