Honestly, that's giving too much credit. The UK's asylum system was incredibly cruel even under the last Labour government, before the coalition, and had been for some time. The Tories did make it worse, but it's been grinding decent people down to the point of quitting for /decades/.

In the UK calling a bad person "a bad" person is *significantly* more socially stigmatising than actually being a bad person.
This is because the UK the subtle social code says that abusing minorities is seen as a birthright, while minorities clapping back are dangerous extremists who need to stfu.
