Most of the way through Walter Isaacson’s biography of Musk. Biggest takeaway: he has a brilliant mind for engineering but has deluded himself into thinking this means he knows how to “engineer” everything. Also a sad example of what happens to an autistic kid with an abusive parent.

Look closely at the first two weeks of Donald Trump’s second term and you’ll see something very different than what he wants you to see.

Who knew Michael McDonald had such a great sense of humor about himself? Or that the members of Toto, in addition to making one of the most casually racist music videos of the ‘80s, also played on nearly every big album by other artists? Tl;dr: this “dockumentary” is fascinating and fun to watch.

@ddiamond.bsky.social There are many reasons I’m glad to be in your top 3% of readers for 2024, but the video of your 3yo delivering the paper really sent it over the top.

Currently breathing deeply, regulating myself for the umpteenth time after reading the latest fear-mongering about the MMR vaccine causing #autism. (It has been resoundingly proven NOT to cause autism.)

My therapist asked me to bring a photo of my kid self to my next appt and I immediately knew which pic to bring. This is my core kid self, before I was ever bullied, before I gave a damn what people thought of me, before I had to pick a gender camp. I miss this kid. What’s your iconic kid photo?

The Human Rights Campaign gave my new home, Greensboro, a perfect score of 100 for LGBTQ+-friendly policies and protections. That makes it the highest-scoring city in North Carolina. 🏳️‍🌈✊🏼🏳️‍⚧️

I enjoyed repairing this hand-knit Christmas stocking for my friend. My mom actually knit these for her as a wedding present years ago. Last year her dog chewed a hole near the toe. The needlepoint yarn I got to darn the hole doesn’t match perfectly but it works. 🧶

I’m crocheting a coral reef - not sure if it’ll ultimately be a sculpture or a wall hanging. I just know I’m having a blast making the individual pieces. 🪸 🧶

There are “joy in community” days, and there are “I can do hard things” days, and there are the “slightest provocation will make me cry” days. Today falls in that last group.

As a person with autism I would like to point out that even if vaccines did cause autism (they don't), dying from a preventable disease is much much much worse than being autistic.
