Love how the "experts" saying that Canada need to keep on top of AI technology aren't programmers or computer scientists, but companies and trade orgs hoping to sell their own AI snake oil to the government.

I have a friend whose mother uses Shinhan religiously and so periodically she has to visit an art store to stock up on colors her mother is running low on and mail them back to the US. I use Shinhan poster color, Pass design color, and Colorist in my gouache-adjacent toolkit.

Me: “Hey Arty, what’s it called when a comic artist is bummed about not making syndicate?”

Arty: *wary noises*

Me: “Peanuts envy.” 😃😃😃

I have gotten Blender to render a GearHead mecha with the pure color channels required for the color switcher + no bleed between colored regions. I feel mighty... and more than a bit tired. #Gamedev #Blender3d
A BuruBuru mecha from GearHead RPG. One shoulder pad is rendered in pure yellow (R=G, B=0); the rest of the mecha is pure grey (R G and B equal)

A polymer clay penguin painting a watercolor painting of my penguin self-portrait. My penguin self-portrait wearing a ghost costume consisting of a sheet with too many eye holes cut in it, a la Charlie Brown. He is also carrying a guitar and saying "I gotta rawk".

You know it's getting good when you spend more time playing than tinkering with code. Which is also important dev work, don't get me wrong...

The only thing humans will ever agree on is that micro-USB was the worst of all of them.

USB-C? Took her time to get there but is becoming universal everywhere and that's Good.

Mini-USB? So durable it's still used today in high-vibration environments, like dash cams.

Micro? Go to hell.

Watched the first episode of the 79' series and i'm pretty impressed at how well it hold up.

Sure, the design is dated, and the animation isn't the best (some shots are pretty amazing though, iconic even) but the story gets real darkin a surprisingly compelling way.

The place where I come from is a small town
They think so small, they use small words
But not me
I'm smarter than that, I worked it out
I've been stretching my mouth
To let those big words come right out

That rocket ham made me remember how Peanut was convinced he could jump. Absolutely certain, in that tiny hamster brain of his. He'd rear back, wiggle his hips, then just kind of tip over sideways.
Peanut, a Chinese striped hamster, looking up at me from inside a cardboard maze.

I think I can get better results if I add a curves modifier to the desaturated render to clamp the values between white and 10% grey.

My therapist has to remind me constantly that just because I'm anxious something may happen doesn't necessarily mean it will.

I used to teach a creative English class for nonnative speakers, and would often include the "5 min, 1 min, 30 sec, 10 sec Batman" sketch activity to show that even if the 10sec sketch is "bad", it successfully communicates the idea "Batman".
Batman sketches drawn in 10 minutes, 1 minute, and 10 seconds.
