I’ve been running around asking tech execs and academics if language was the same as intelligence for over a year now - and, well, it isn’t. @benjaminjriley.bsky.social explains how the bubble is built on ignoring cutting-edge research into the science of thought www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...

Kurt Vonnegut said that all stories boil down to man in a hole.

Soft sci fi - man in a worm hole
Hard sci fi - man in a black hole
Literary fiction - sad professor wants a hole
Thriller - man in a plot hole
Mystery - hole in a man
Fantasy - Lord of the holes
Romance - ummm

I am now making some peas for Dora because the old girl deserves some peas.

Dora my catfish just died. I'm not sure how old she was; somewhere between 10 and 15 years old. There are two shrimp in the tank with her; I'm not sure what to do with them. Either try to move them to the goldfish tank where there are other shrimp, or move some more shrimp into the catfish tank.

Continuing the GearHead Caramel UI refactoring and I have come to the AdventureSeed class- a bundled blueprint for some narrative content, usually a mission. Gonna overload its call function to support being called directly from a widget, but ofc Python doesn't really support function overloading...

After years of useless posture advice ("imagine a string pulling you up"???), the only technique that's ever worked for me is to imagine there are laser beams coming out of your nipples and aim for people's heads. It works, and people cannot tell you're doing it

PLS leave reviews and spread the word about graphic novels you enjoy 😭 it's so hard to even convince agents & editors to consider adult gns & bc of the idea they don't know how to market it
For graphic novels, especially adult genre fiction, it's incredibly helpful to review it online, talk about it, recommend it to a friend—adult fiction in the graphic novel space is difficult to place, and nothing convinces readers that they'll like a book more than the personal testimonial.
If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!

Because people keep asking, the Story of The Lizard In That Dude's Leg. Some caveats:

1. This happened more than twenty years ago. There are no pictures. There was a small article in a local paper with, again, no pictures (I'm assuming that's what the producers of 9-1-1: LONE STAR found).

Back on the refactoring train with GearHead Caramel, after being waylaid by bronchitis earlier this month. I'll say one good thing about overhauling the entire UI: it's letting me review nooks and crannies of the code I haven't visited in ages. #GameDev #ghrpg store.steampowered.com/app/1565090/...
