Critical piece: destroying civilian govt. and now replacing it with a police state. open.substack.com/pub/contrari...
Welcome to the nihilocracy
Trump is blowing up essential functions in ways that might take decades or longer to restore. It is nihilistic and deserves a new name.

This is a pretty important point!
The correct way to connect the authoritarian presence in LA and the Big Beautiful Bill is that the bill gives the government the resources to do this in dozens of cities at once. So if you don't like what's happening in LA, it's coming to your town if the bill passes.

When it's too late, all the establishment and corporate bootlickers will realize no matter how much you try to placate MAGA, it's never enough. It's a fascist movement that doesn't care about rules or reciprocity. It's about gaining power by any means necessary. It's all projection all the time.

Contrary to claims made by its proponents, the mass deportations' components of the Big Beautiful Bill will not improve its CBO score. Indeed, it will make it much worse. Accounting for lost net revenue from immigrants adds nearly $1 trillion in additional cost.
