Saving a museum would be a pretty cool thing to do for Christmas, wouldn't it?

You know what to do, you awesome bunch....
Help! Banbury Museum has been told that Cherwell District Council is cancelling ALL of its core funding.

There is a very tight deadline - Friday 19th December - to tell the Council what you think.

Please respond to the consultation and share this post

🧵I've posted previously about how institutional capture by disordered discourse works, and I want to highlight this post from DOD Rapid Response to show what it looks like in action, and what it tells us.

It’s a textbook example of Stage 5: Entrenchment & Epistemic Closure.

In journalism it's important to reflect both sides, listen, understand nuance,be aware of your bias
It’s also important to call out facts that aren’t true
Trump suggested Ukraine started the war with Russia
That is not true.Facts matter. If you want to end a war,you need to face up to how it started

One grotty truth of real world cybersecurity is that once a network has been breached by a hostile actor, you need to rebuild, test, and re-commission it from a known-good foundation, which always turns out to be way lower level than anybody wants to think.

I know how tough it is out there, but we do have a fully funded PhD scholarship available here at CCCU, with a UKRI-linked stipend and great staff to support you. If you want to pursue a PhD in History, Archaeology, or Heritage; consider applying. We're a friendly bunch and Canterbury is lovely. 🗃️

Scrolling Bluesky I see beautiful pictures of the universe, interesting ideas, and enthusiasm. I like this a lot. Twitter seems to have descended into a sad mess of bots and anger. It is a shame that the SM that inspired my MA and PhD is gone, but 🦋 seems to be a positive evolution.
