CATO INSTITUTE:

Despite DOGE slashing jobs, government spending in every month of 2025 “was greater than in every other year .. An observer who did not know when DOGE started could not identify it” on a chart. 🤡

Just tried to search for Trump’s name in the Epstein files library on the DOJ’s website. You’ll be *shocked* to learn that there’s no mention of him whatsoever!

Just feel it’s an interesting day to share govt data. Turns out there was no need to drill baby drill. We have more oil than ever with less rigs in operation and oil is so cheap there’s no reason to add more production.

Carl’s posts this morning show that while national news networks are being gobbled up, local news is very direct in its reporting. And all politics is local.

I’m but a simple country theoretical physicist, and I can say, in my professional capacity, “datacenters in space” is so colossally, monumentally stupid that it is difficult to know where to start with which laws of physics the idea is spitting in the face of the most.
“.. Skeptics believe the technical risks are being underestimated and say space-based data centers won’t be competitive on cost, especially if power and other constraints ease on the ground.”

Let me get this straight. The one price that has come down a bit is gas. So…seizing oil is going to make prices possibly go up on the only thing consumers aren’t complaining about?

I could see live theater making a comeback similar to the vinyl resurgence post-MP3s.
“I am so bored by AI. One of the things I love about the theatre is AI can’t do it.”

Ethan Hawke is a dude 👌🏻

Anyone else mad that AI has made us second guess cute animal videos? You can’t even tell if the duckling and kitten friends are real anymore.

Australia: Every citizen getting hours of free electricity a day thanks to solar.
U.S.:
I now have comment from the Interior Department confirming it is holding up approvals for “federal resources, permits or consultations” related to solar projects on private lands

Will I judge your whole belief system by how you rank Star Wars films? Yes.
Will I even read a post where you rank pies? No. Just let people eat their pies in peace.

Only 11 cancellations so far at O’Hare. I wish luck to everyone flying today. Gusts are up to 50 mph. My neighbors fence partially knocked over and I have all of my block’s uncollected leaves in my yard.

Look, I know prices are up but it’s pretty darn easy to find a cheap turkey if my weekend shopping was any indication. Still $.99 a pound for frozen on sale at the grocery. Costco had fresh small turkeys for $15.

I was saying to someone from Charlotte they wouldn’t go there because it’s a purple state. This is not a smart move.

Video shows lava shot over 1,000 feet into the air from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano on Sunday. The impressive eruption was accompanied by a "volnado," or a tornado-like swirl of dust and ash caused by the contrast between the heated air near the lava and the cooler ambient air.

On a $400k house with 20% down you’d pay a MILLION DOLLARS in interest on a 50 year loan. I’m assuming an 8% rate. 30 yr at 6% still an astounding $370k in interest.

Why aren’t all Democrats shouting they’ll pass Air Traffic funding as a standalone immediately? Sign a letter with every House and Senate Dem on it. It’s not being funded because Congress is out of session. Only reason. I don’t think Americans separate it from the healthcare issue.
November 7, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Maybe just cheaper to pay for the healthcare extension? I’m not a numbers guy or anything though.
Hassett: "The impact on the economy of the shutdown is far worse than we expected because it's gone on for so long. Goldman estimate it's over a percent or a percent & a half of GDP. I think we were thinking we were gonna have at least 3% growth in Q4. Now we're expecting something like half that."
