Watching the Libertarians fighting tonight is amusing me.

If you aren’t going to stand up for your citizens. Who is?

There's a fair number of what I think are actual humans like that - but I have noticed that after I blocked about 40 accounts, Threads suddenly became saner... so it is a small number of the worse offenders there.

Threads is my barometer for anger.

Is that TRUE?

😂

It is not a particularly well thought out UI 🙄

To take Denmark we’d also have to ‘take’ Canadian positions on the eastern seaboard to protect aircraft and have the same risks from submarines.

It’s a nightmare scenario anyway I look at it.
January 23, 2026 at 1:30 AM
Having looked at equipment, if we did this we’d lose a bunch of forward operating bases on day 1 and all their kit and have to fly long range bombers from the US and sorties off carriers that would be sitting ducks for European submarines, of which there are lots.
January 23, 2026 at 1:30 AM
Much like if Russia was stupid enough to try Poland or the Baltic States. If they think Ukraine has been painful it would be a whole other level of hurt.

We take on NATO we are going to lose kit. Serious kit like ships.
January 23, 2026 at 1:26 AM
So my reaction isn’t so much about could we steamroll any individual country v could we do that to NATO and think we’d find out pretty quickly that fighting a peer nation when it comes to available tech isn’t the same as anything we’ve done before.
January 23, 2026 at 1:26 AM
Ignoring that the Danes fly F35s among other aircraft the point is we wouldn’t be attacking Denmark we’d be attacking NATO and we can’t just walk over NATO even if Turkey didn’t take part.

We’d be operating with a bunch of support we usually have and probably lose a chunk of kit when we bug out.
January 23, 2026 at 1:26 AM
I suspect strongly one of the issues is that no peer navies have fought in 40 years and for us that’s more like 80+.

We have a lot of well equipped and well trained and armed forces. But so does NATO.
January 23, 2026 at 12:23 AM
The US is a big deal. We spend a fortune. But we also have our own failure modes when it comes to arrogance which makes what has been done to our allies even more stupid.

We still regularly ‘lose’ carriers in joint exercises. And either that means we’re letting them get sunk or we have issues.
January 23, 2026 at 12:23 AM
Country. Yes. Europe as a whole? No. NATO. No.
January 23, 2026 at 12:21 AM
Yes I am sure the US could ‘take’ Canada but I’m not sure it could do much else.
January 22, 2026 at 4:22 PM
My point is the US relies on others for some of those awesome logistics and has not had to deal with an opposition with comparable equipment and training in almost a century.

Sure they could land forces by air in a surprise but holding that if NATO got involved 🤷‍♂️

At 80 my mother was in great shape and very fit and active. At 82 she was not. It was astonishingly sudden.

The French at least deal with this with a jungle primary and straight run off of the top two for the president role. It’s definitely better.

I did not mess with the withholding on the w4 I just didn’t I won’t say it wasn’t tempting.
January 22, 2026 at 12:33 AM
Heh.
