The stretch of the A1 from Peterborough Services to Grantham is something else. Loads of bends, blind summits (not quite A68 standard), right turn junctions across oncoming 70mph traffic. IIRC they’re going to close all the right-turn junctions, due to the number of crashes at them.

Nice to see that Tow Law has already got its 45 Degree Christmas Trees installed. Along the whole of the Main Street, and loads of the houses taking part.

This “Simon Bates in New York” theme always reminded me of The Stone Roses. Shazam even suggests Fools Gold. Can only find this looped 5 minute version of it - by Mike Woolmans.

BBC Radio One - Bates In New York Theme
A 5 minute looped edit of the jingle Simon Bates used on his 'Bates In New York' programme on BBC Radio 1 during the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Very much a Sussex thing, from what I can tell. Local Bonfire Societies take turn to host processions, fireworks, bonfires and burning of effigies from September to November. This was Battle last weekend, and it’s Rye’s turn this Saturday

Sat in the pub with Junior, watching the F1 (not listening, as there are big TVs watching Football with the sound blaring), and pretty impressed to see VER get from 18th to 1st. Nearly 20 laps left, so not a done deal.

Interesting evening wandering around the Palace Of Westminster. Free to walk between House of Lords, Commons, Gallery, Robing Room. Obligatory look at the ITN Wallbox in the Central Lobby, and the Shotoku remote cameras. Reckon there are about 100 mics suspended in the House of Lords. No pics inside

Ended up in ‘For You’ mode on The Twitter, and there’s a big barney between Newcastle fans as to which order The Blaydon Races or Local Hero should be played as the team comes out onto the pitch. Almost a 50:50 split. I’d probably go for Blaydon Races.

Enjoyed the performance of Everybody Scream from Flossie and her Machine on Jools. Pleased they still mix this show in Dolby Digital.

Watching the Hollyoaks v Brookside episode, and think I spotted Phil Redmond making a cameo appearance. Used to watch Brookie decades ago.
