I took this photo less than 10 years after the deer fence behind was erected. Before it went up, the land behind was just grass, exactly like the foreground where he sheep are.

Had a thought today. I'm writing a novel with rewilding as its theme and I was thinking about @georgemonbiot.bsky.social 's trophic cascades. We always assume that man is the top predator, but he's not. In fact man doesn't feature in an ecosystem at all. The earth would be better off without him.

Based purely on talking to f&f, I would say that no more than 1% of the British people are climate activists. Maybe 10% are climate deniers, and the vast majority 89% of us are on a sliding scale of disinterest.
