Absolutely! I really love that there are so many ways to do things here… and this is a good chance to remind folks who *don’t* want to be boosted that you can turn boostability off.

Thanks for posting that, in earlier reports I had missed the detail that they were shooting *from the roof*

A reminder for newcomers, since I hear there’s a bunch of you:

A “like” (star) sends a message to the posters that says “hey, I liked what you did/said/shared there, I glad I read/saw it” Which is very nice and appreciated, but that’s all it does, there’s no software that bootstraps that into […]

Entrepreneur: entre (between) - preneur (taker) “between-taker”

ie middle-men, ie profiteers

It’s literally there in the word, people.

<apologies to all the inventors, creatives, producers, local and small service and goods providers… you were convinced to adopt this rather odious label to […]

that’s because SpaceX is not a corporate contractor. they’re parasitic corporate extractors. NASA is just they’re major host/prey.

How anyone ever thought that adding a layer of profit-taking corporate middle-men would somehow magically be cheaper is beyond me… and yet I live in a province whose government passionately ‘believes’ this is exactly what will make our health care system “better”. There’s only one […]

Conveniently ignoring the fact that red states have literally spent the last 3 years literally putting people on busses and literally dropping them off in sanctuary cities.

It’s the anniversary of the #october7 attacks and my heart is heavy. The 80 year reign of terror against Palestinians is a poison on this earth. I believe all people under occupation have the right to resist, yet I still feel terribly for civilians caught in the middle. More Americans need to […]

Canada has a system that tries to split the difference, especially to avoid freeloaders. If you are determined to be non-resident, there is no taxation of foreign earned income, but as many people carefully maintain health care […]

And why was there an apartment block with many undocumented migrants and asylum seekers in Chicago? Because Texas put them there.

Sure thing Maggie, they just conveniently and accidentally showed up at the same time in full tac gear and arrested a bunch of people.

So as far as I can tell, today’s protest at the Alberta Legislature in support of teachers who are about to strike is the largest protest ever held at the Leg. with estimates ranging beyond 20,000. And this was only one of many well-attended protests across the […]

A photo of the plaza in front of the Alberta Legislature filled with thousand of people carrying signs.
The Legislature is a Beaux-Art neoclassical building dating to around 1910 in slightly creamy stone with a columned portico, and a prominent dome. A view looking away from the Legislature building with the plaza crowded to the end with as many as 20,000 people, including on the raised courtyard beyond the plaza proper.

I just want to keep saying that tear gas is

1) an abortifacient

2) extremely painful and scary

3) outright dangerous for people with respiratory issues

4) has effects, especially reproductive health effects, that long outlast the acute stage of exposure. I'm talking months of symptoms.

Since we seem permanently stuck on fptp, I guess its good to have a lot of candidates with platforms I hate to split the votes of all the reactionary numpties?

Saw this sign just down the road…
A large political road at the side of the road.

Text reads:
DON'T TAX MY LUNCH!
Ward Dene - City Council
Elect Lana Palmer

It shows a picture of the candidate and a brown paper bag with $.25 written on it covered by a large X

So *this* sign showed up on my neighbourhood, strategically placed next to the new bike lanes… 🙄

I mean, she’s right: roads are for cars, which is why we need bike lanes, but of course that’s not what she meant.

#yegcc #yegelection #yegbikes #bikes
A road where half the paved surface is marked off for bike lanes using low concrete barriers and green flexiposts. On the boulevard strip next to the sidewalk is a large (3x3 foot?) sign that says:
ROADS ARE FOR CARS!
Elect Lana Palmer
Ward Dene City Council
