There will always be anomalies. And that’s what that was - an anomaly. Everton at home. West Ham at home. Wolves at home = the matches on which even mediocre teams are established, never mind great. I can’t name a solid instance in over a year now where I’ve been convinced it works. Can you?

The subs (again) are a close second - yeah options are severely limited, but Fletcher (not his position) and Mantato (much less ready) over Lacey, the usual centre-back swap for no apparent reason… he’s a laughing stock with fans of other clubs and absolutely rightfully so. Sunk Cost Fallacy FC

Felt like this was a massive ‘losing the moderates’ moment, to use an @andymitten.bsky.social phrase

I take your point. But again I feel that even that was a case of it being “his call” rather than adhering to pressure etc. He’s so preoccupied with how he’s perceived. Those players, when set up to play to their strengths, beat Wolves. He didn’t do that, so we didn’t.

Your first point negates your second Aaron. It was so obvious what he needed to do and he completely ignored it cos “the system”. Great managers do whats needed. He’s so wrapped up in his own nonsense he can barely function.
