I have no issue with constructive criticism or different viewpoints and opinions, which is a very instructive part of the writting process, but don’t reject a paper on a single myopic issue because you have fundamentally no understanding of what you are being critical of

I recently submitted a paper to a journal and got some of the most ridiculous negative feedback I’ve ever seen citing lack of rigour in experiments and writing. Without going into details, I responded pointing out a lack of rigour in the referees comments to begin with.
