I absolutely love the @berkeleyscanner.com, we are beyond lucky to have that kind of knowledgable, detailed reporting on public safety in our community. Most places don't have that.
But man that comment section...there are some wild things that happen in that comment section...

4 year old saw a version of this meme so I had to explain it to her, so I made up an example she could relate to, and it was, to put it mildly, a hit and so now you all get to share in it too

Reading through the correspondence for last night's planning commission meeting, there's some good stuff.
Jury's out on this one, frankly.

Apropos of nothing, the entire length of golden park, stretching from the park about a half mile into sunset, is about to have allow 9 story buildings (with density bonus). Pretty cool.

Gannett is sitting right there!
It’s a public company, worth a half a billion. A rich person or group of rich people could just buy it and then you own papers in all of these places.

To answer that you need to look at why certain units are vacant, then you get the answer - it either makes absolutely zero sense, or it would involve literally stealing homes from people who own them and forcing them to house the homeless.

I understand why people believe that stuff - this comes from one of the most egregious parts of the whole story, which, more on that later. But it's just not true, the misconception is both insulting to professional staff toxic to our civic culture.

Here's another one - they're talking about “requirements”, that BFD has “rejected” and “vetoed”, saying the department needs to “achieve consensus” and “negotiate” and find “a viable compromise”.

Here's one record I found documenting a meeting between the Fire Department and Public Works staff.
This meeting was before council even asked staff to do detailed engineering work!
