Efforts to paywall or hide information and literature have always existed, but with the current admin making a greater push to control what we see, how can we hope to preserve things? Some people just download everything they can; what can we digital humanists do?

I've recently learned about Dublin Core in my college Digital Humanities course and had a thought: how useful is AI going to be in the creation of metadata? A simple program may be able to identify what images are and elements of their composition, but how far can this go? It'd be interesting to see

Public libraries are amazing!
Did you know you can borrow a book from any library in the country and return it to any other library?
Did you know they have subscriptions to huge amounts of national and international media that you can access?

While it may not be of the highest concern to most people, I am interested and afraid of how the Library of Congress will change during this administration. What will be hidden? What will be re-labeled? How many steps back are we going to take?
