Hey, Katelyn! I admire your work and have followed for a while… signed up for your discord-level support tier on Patreon. Silly question, but how do I actually join it?

Thanks for all you do! Hoping to have the means to increase my support in the future.

I hope 2026 is kind to you!

The idea that journalists cannot accurately or fully report on topics they have strong feelings about is not just silly… it would make it impossible to report any issue that has any impact on people’s lives. Unless we want to argue that journalists are immune to the human condition.

Sometimes (often) the facts are that one side is wrong on the facts.

Like the government’s attacks mRNA vaccines. Their misinformation kills people.

Or its embrace of lab leak conspiracies.

Or its efforts to ban gender affirming care.

Wrong on the science. Wrong on the medical consensus.

And when I pushed back with evidence about trans folks being targeted at the state and federal levels, disproportionately being made homeless, murdered, and driven to suicide, was told “other people are suffering and dying, too.”

That’s what we are up against.

For the record, cis journalists will largely completely and utterly fail in this regard so it’s more of a challenge issued than an actual prediction of what will happen.

Earlier this year I was told by a journalist that I needed to stop covering so many trans stories bc they “weren’t newsworthy.”
