TiVo changed my life, and cloud DVRs will never match its precision and user-friendliness. It's the best piece of consumer electronics I've ever used.

I generally don’t enjoy “what if fiction thing that seems nice is actually…EVIL?” But this piece arguing that Tom Bombadil is significantly more sinister than he seems (and possibly more so than Tolkien intended) is, to me, well-reasoned and fairly convincing

The Japanese spider crab (Macrocheira kaempferi) has the largest leg span of any arthropod, with claw to claw distances of 12.1 feet (3.7 m), so it's appropriate that the Japanese name is taka-ashi-gani ('tall legs crab')
