I remember mentioning unionizing in a CS forum years ago. And the response was almost uniformly against because they were making good money and besides, CS fields are a clear meritocracy unlike other industries.

I've heard the complaint "no one remembers the main character's name from Avatar" so often that Jake Sully is somehow burned into my brain. And I usually don't remember the name of interesting characters in movies I love.

It is genuinely refreshing when a protagonist doesn't have a tragic backstory these days.

Nick Cave spoke out against AI and then released that awful AI Tupelo music video, so I'm thinking the most plausible explanation is some sort of alien body-swap deal.

But you don't understand. Not only would my rankings be different, but I would have included and left off different items on that list.

It's in the bottom 3 for me. Only Attack of the Clones and Rise of Skywalker are worse. There are parts of the prequels I've liked, but I've made my peace with the fact that the original trilogy is all that really matters in the series.

The last film of his that you could classify as horror is probably Blade II, which is also an action movie and a superhero movie. So, maybe The Devil's Backbone. He likely doesn't see himself as a horror director, and I don't think the general public even views him this way.

One of the my most memorable theater experiences was seeing Silence, and there's no way you can replicate that at home. It's a film that demands patience and your attention.

I sometimes wonder if the government simply forcing tech companies to include the option of a chronological feed of people you follow would be a major step towards reversing some of the harms of social media.

For bills I find most aggravating, I mail checks just to make the company I'm paying work for it a bit more.

It's a version of people pointing out that conservatives are hypocrites.

"You claim to love free speech, and yet you are jailing students for writing op-eds. Gotcha!"

Conservatives claim that there's no way Trump is implicated in Epstein because Democrats would have leaked it. And they have an overinflated sense of the Democratic Party's political instincts.
