Happy WIP Wednesday!! I wanna post some namkook pwp I was working on that I meant to finish and post for their b-days but didn’t cause mental illness said no 🖤. I’ve been thinking about it again recently so even tho it’s no longer Namkook bday month…perhaps I’ll finish and post anyway? 🫣

They had been chasing each other for the better part of a year now; lingering gazes, "accidental" brushing of hands whenever they were walking somewhere, all the words left unsaid in between friend gatherings, late-night phone calls, and evenings at the Han. After months of groaning and complaints from their friends, the two finally sat down and confessed their true feelings. It was a whirlwind after that, and even after two months of being official, Jungkook still finds himself waking up expecting it all to be a dream.
Namjoon takes their empty plates to the sink, giving them a good rinse before putting them into the dishwasher. Jungkook can't help but look at him in awe, cheek pressed against his hand as he watched Namjoon work quietly, leaning into the fridge to grab a small pink box. He turns to look over his shoulder, his eyes squeezing closed as he smiles.
"Why are you staring at me? Close your eyes!" Namjoon grumbles, flapping his hand over his head as he turns to work.
Jungkook scoffs good-naturedly, closing his eyes and putting his hands over them for good measure.
"Not my fault your ass looks great in those jeans...." Jungkook sighs, laughing again when he hears his boyfriend's indignant gasp. He hears more shuffling around in the small kitchen, his boyfriend at one point cursing softly under his breath, followed by a clattering of something to the kitchen counter. "Is destroying your own kitchen a part of my birthday surprise?"

"No, it's not, you brat," Namjoon groans, sounding much closer than he was before. Jungkook's smile widens when he feels the heat of Namjoon's body next to him, his woodsy cologne filling his nostrils and sending a pleasant shiver down his spine, "But this is. Open your eyes, sweetheart."
Jungkook removes his hands, clearing his vision for a moment.
He doesn't know what he should be looking at until he looks down at the table. In front of him was a red velvet cupcake, the cream cheese frosting on top holding a singular lit yellow candle.
Almost immediately, tears spring to Jungkook's eyes, his heart squeezing in his chest, "Oh...Hyung."
"Happy Birthday, angel," Namjoon whispers, leaning down to nuzzle the side of Jungkook's neck affectionately. The tears start to fall at the sweet gesture, his hand coming up to press their cheeks together as he looks at the cupcake, feeling the warmth of his boyfriend by his side. "Make a wish." Jungkook sniffles to himself softly, turning slightly to press a gentle kiss to Namjoon's cheek. The older man turns, pressing his lips softly to Jungkook's. The younger man sighs, turning to the cupcake again. He smiles, closing his eyes as he leans down, blowing out the candle. Namjoon cheers softly next to him, quickly retaking his seat next to Jungkook.
He pulls out two forks, wiggling his eyebrow mischievously.
Jungkook laughs softly under his breath, wiping his face with the sleeve of his shirt, taking the fork from Namjoon's hand. He takes a tentative taste of the frosting, moaning as the sweet, tangy flavor dissolves on his tongue, "Is this from Jin-Hyung's bakery?" Namjoon looks sheepish at the question, his free hand rubbing the back of his neck shyly.
"Uh, yeah. I...I know he stopped making the red velvet ones a while ago, but I remember how much you liked them, so I asked if Hyung could make a special exception...." Jungkook can't help the wet laughter that escapes his lips, wiping more tears as he shakes his head.

"Jin-Hyung gets so crabby about repeating flavors," Jungkook says, sniffling as he takes a bite of the cupcake. He moans appreciatively, his free hand reaching over to grab Namjoon's wrists, "You are so sweet, Joon. Thank you."
"Sweeter than the cupcake?" Namjoon asks, trying and failing to keep the smirk off his face. Jungkook rolls his eyes, sniffling again as he takes another bite.
"And tastier, too."
The comment brings redness to Namjoon's cheeks, his gaze dropping shyly to the table. Jungkook giggles at the reaction, leaning over the table briefly to press a kiss to Namjoon's lips.
Namjoon returns the kiss enthusiastically, nipping playfully at Jungkook's bottom lip. The two share the dessert, softly talking about the day they've had so far, Jungkook's parents, gossip from Namjoon's job, and whatever else they can come up with.
Jungkook feels full and satiated by the time the cupcake is finished, leaning back in his chair as Namjoon stands up again to put the dish in the sink.
"That was so good," Jungkook says out loud, leaning forward again to pull out his phone. Namjoon doesn't reply but Jungkook doesn't pay it much mind, getting caught up with texting Jin a thank you for the dessert and replying to the birthday messages he's gotten throughout the day from all his friends.
He startles when he feels Namjoon's hands on his shoulders, quickly melting into the touch when he feels him start to massage the muscles, digging his thumbs into the tendons at the back of his neck. "How has your day been so far, baby? Had a good birthday?"
"Hyung," Jungkook sighs, nearly moaning when his boyfriend digs his fingers into a particularly tight knot in his neck, gently kneading all the tenseness away, "This is the best birthday ever." He hears Namjoon chuckle softly, his hands moving to Jungkook's back, thumbs digging in along his spine. Jungkook winces at the touch but then sighs, rolling his neck.

"And who do you have to thank for that?" Namjoon asks, his voice lower, darker than it was before. The question makes Jungkook furrow his brow, a small giggle leaving his lips.
"Um, my friends?" Jungkook answers, "My...parents for giving birth to me?" The scoff Namjoon gives him in reply sends a chill down his spine, his heart rate slowly rising. Suddenly, Jungkook gasps, his head being pulled back by the grip Namjoon has on his hair.
The younger's eyes fly open, a pitiful whimper leaving his lips as his boyfriend looks down at him, his other hand coming to grasp his chin, keeping him in place. The look Namjoon has on his face alone is enough to set him ablaze, his dark eyes narrowed, his stare boring into him. "I don't get a thank you?" The way he says the words makes Jungkook fidget, arousal stirring pleasantly in the pit of his stomach. When he doesn't reply, Namjoon tightens his hold on his chin, bringing his face closer to the younger/s.
Jungkook can't help the moan that escapes his lips, his tongue absentmindedly licking his piercing, his breath quickening.
The corner of Namjoon's mouth quirks briefly, the ghost of a smirk on his lips at the reaction, leaning closer to whisper, "I asked you a question."
"Y-Yes," Jungkook pants immediately, licking his lips, his thighs pressing together, "Thank you, Hyung." He winces when Namjoon tugs on his hair meanly, humming under his breath as he takes in Jungkook's words, contemplating.
"I think it's only fair you thank me properly, yeah?" Namjoon presses his thumb against Jungkook's lips teasingly at the words, biting his own lip when Jungkook wraps his lips around the digit, sucking softly. A shiver runs up his spine when Namjoon hooks his thumb over his bottom teeth, forcing his mouth open, "Let me use you how I want to."
"Please," Jungkook breathes, the anticipation making his heart flutter, his hands grabbing at Namjoon's waist, "I...I want you to."
"Yeah?" Namjoon asks, the grip on his hair lessening, his long finge…

Namjoon is so deeply, nakedly, authentically *human.* That's an incredibly difficult thing to be as a regular person living a life with a regular amount of attention. But to be that fully dimensional for an audience of millions?? No wonder he's anxious--but he is also so, so brave and inspiring.

nj’s parents love story: they graduated from the same elementary school. unrelated to that, they dated for 9 years (as in, it’s not clear whether they started dating in middle school). nj hung out in that school as a kid whenever he went to grandparents’ home

I think I have a date bc I distinctly remember in 2020 when we were all locked down and I watched their carpool karaoke and my friend showed me Ugh! And I posted on my finsta that I’d be casually into them and won’t get involved in the fandom but then I read some fic and have been here since 🙂‍↕️
