In this thread, Shannon explains how Designers & Dragons: Origins has its roots in an unlikely place.

Doctor Who.

I've done a few interviews about Designers & Dragons Origins over the last few days, and some folks have asked about the origins of Origins.

There's a long-ish story about the DnDClassics site and the return of D&D PDFs to the world.

The product histories emerged organically from that.

Inktober, Day 8, "Reckless": I may have been a little reckless inking such an ambitious image over afternoon tea, but I've wanted to realize this drawing of a D&D Bulette since I first sketched it back in 2006.

The bad habits that are listed here are fewer in number but oh so much greater in the size and capitalisation of their headings

I'm reminded of when Eisenhower was President, he utterly refused to allow military men to salute him because he understood the importance of civilian control of the military, and while as a 5 star he was technically ALWAYS in the Army, as President he was a civilian.

Official cover reveal!
Lorne Colt did an outstanding job with all four volumes of Designers & Dragons: Origins.
We launch this mammoth collection of roleplaying history two weeks from today! Sign up here to get notified on launch: www.backerkit.com/call_to_acti...
The four covers for Designers & Dragons: Origins. Volume 1 shows an illustration of a scaly dragon egg surrounded by jewels. Volume 2 shows a young hatchling clutching a crystal. Volume 3 shows a young dragon frolicking as it breathes wisps of fire. Volume 4 shows and adult dragon stalking directly toward the viewer in a menacing prowl.

If you are an employer who needs a lot of specific info included, having a template with fields for the contractor to fill out REALLY helps, especially if you can fill in as much coding, etc. as possible—I have one client who regularly changes complex invoice req’s and sends back anything else.

David Hogg made his first endorsement against a Democratic incumbent, making good on his promise to target elected officials who're “asleep at the wheel."

In June, our friends at @revealnews.org spoke with the former DNC chair about how he plans to shake up the establishment.
David Hogg’s fight for the future of the Democratic Party
The gun control activist and DNC vice chair is targeting “asleep at the wheel” incumbents. But could his primary strategy lead to his own ousting?

Early voting is underway for Prop 50 in California.

I urge anyone in the state to vote yes.

This isn’t a race to the bottom. It’s a means of avoiding the bottom. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/what-blue-states-should-do-when-red

Anytime executive dysfunction is an obstacle it’s because the “task” is actually a series of many small decisions and tasks and boy howdy is that a lot to carry. I’m sorry you’re in the depths of that! Any idea what would make it easier (and can we help)?

Journalist Edward R. Murrow used his platform on CBS to criticize the witch hunts led by Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.

This is what real journalism should do — hold power to account, not capitulate to it.

Thank you to the Alaska Raptor Center for telling the truth that birders already knew: every bald eagle cry you hear in an advertisement is a red-tailed hawk.

it remains really funny that this site was spun up to be a crypto/rationalist platform and then old time weird twitter people and others started moving over here in spring 2023 and ever since management has been mad they're successful but not in the way they wanted

No indication yet from major media that the FBI has any interest whatsoever in investigating this apparent attempted assassination of a well-known judge openly targeted on social media by the far-right activist—Harmeet Dhillon—currently calling herself Assistant Attorney General of the United States
Beachfront home of South Carolina judge, ex-senator burned to ground, injuring 3
