We don't live in Gergen's world.

In our world, you can walk out there and knowingly lie to the press by showing a different kind of mastery. Verification in reverse is my term for it. The routine denial of things that can be verified, treated as a power source. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/11/u...

The president of the United States.
Trump is furious at Israel this morning for bombing Iran after his cease fire was announced, and says he’s “not happy with Israel” and they “don’t know what the fuck they’re doing.”

Again, The Onion nails it.
EXCLUSIVE — The Onion has a full-page ad in today’s NYT featuring part of an editorial calling out congressional fecklessness towards Trump. They also sent a copy of their latest issue to every lawmaker.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter”???????
We just bombed Iran according to trump. I don’t recall him getting congressional approval.

3 years ago, my first @cascadiadaily.com column appeared. While I shifted from Business Matters and Places & Things to deep features and Business Briefs, one quote from 6/22/22 stands out:

"You’ll find I ask a lot of direct questions, and keep asking until I get an answer or everyone’s exhausted."

Well said.
Brilliant column by @willbunch.bsky.social:
It didn't just rain on Trump's militarized birthday parade in D.C. Man, it poured

I went to No Kings in Philly and saw how the flag is mightier than the tank, as a people's army of red, white and blue called No Kings trumped U.S. autocracy on Flag Day
