I think it’s important to highlight that both liberals and conservatives were similarly affected. We are ALL being pushed away from finding common ground.

I wonder how many would actually choose to up-rank extreme views if given the choice for their own algorithm……….

The proliferation of health / science disinformation coupled with erosion of once trusted sources of info (CDC, NIH websites etc) is a very bad combo…….

This has to be incredibly difficult for physicians as centralized recommendations for treatment falter and patients arrive with internet ideas…

Basically if the government decides it doesn’t like the science you are doing, or doesn’t like you (perhaps because of your social media posts, advocacy, or participation in protests), they can kill your funding.

I think this highlights the importance of the human relationships in academia. Regardless of course content - It matters that students feel that their professors / mentors genuinely care about them as individuals and are invested in helping them achieve career goals.
