In essence a language model changes you from a programmer who writes lines of code, to a programmer that manages the context the model has access to, prunes irrelevant things, adds useful material to context, and writes detailed specifications. If that doesn't sound fun to you, you won't enjoy it.

5. Nintendo. It’s been lovely seeing my son’s excitement as he discovers all the wonders of Kirby games and has become enamored with all the characters. I also finally got a Switch 2 to call my own for Christmas and loved picking up games on sale and diving into my collection of Switch 1 games.

4. Dropout. I finally subscribed this year after seeing many of my favorite comedians show up, and Gamechanger , VIP, and many of the other shows have been hilarious. Still need to dip my toe in their D&D content, maybe 2026 will be the year.

3. Through the Ages board game app. I’ve played asynchronous board game sessions with coworkers for years as a nice way to connect un a remote job that can be isolating. TtA is a really well-done app version of a fiddly physical board game, the latest game that’s grabbed our attention.

2. Taskmaster. Series 19 and 20 were both fantastic, and Champion of Champions was a lot of fun. So glad they put them on Youtube the same day they’re broadcast in the UK, to reduce spoilers and allow more folks to discuss across the world together without the old one-day delay.

1. Knives Out movies. I kept hearing good things about them, and I don’t watch many movies that aren’t targeted for children. I finally made the effort to watch all three of these, in fits and starts on my phone, and unraveling the twists and turns have been a nice escape.

Thanks for the newsletter and bits, both excellent! Also cool to hear about new merch at events, maybe available online some day? I have fond memories of merch past that I wore until they fell apart

Also Jason had a long talk with the producers about how he’s deathly allergic to eggs. The podcast is fascinating listening for obsessives like me.
