semi-regular reminder that ICE was only created in 2003

when you are asked to imagine a world without ICE, you're basically being asked to remember where you were when Lilo & Stitch came out

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

In essence a language model changes you from a programmer who writes lines of code, to a programmer that manages the context the model has access to, prunes irrelevant things, adds useful material to context, and writes detailed specifications. If that doesn't sound fun to you, you won't enjoy it.

Ending 2025 on a high note of finally figuring out the Gordian knot of multiple Switches, Microsoft accounts with Minecraft purchases attached, and various bad decisions made long ago around kid gaming account setups. Something @patrickklepek.bsky.social might be able to appreciate.

When the player count on the box says 2-8 but everyone knows it’s lying
This is a casual open house I’m hosting for anyone in the local Discords who doesn’t have plans tonight.

When I planned it, it was win/win: if people show up, fun game night! If they don’t, night to myself!

But now I’m increasingly worried about a worst case scenario: one person shows up.
