I think it was in the 90's when Al Gore was gearing up to run for president. I was really excited as a kid, and then really disappointed. Also had the grave misfortune of being a kid obsessed with global warming in a town where all the adults believed it to be a conspiracy theory

If I genuinely could be bothered to Pivot to Video, I would do something with sock puppets. It would probably be awesome. It would almost certainly develop an epic storyline. I would make people sob over noble sock-sacrifice.

It would also be time I wasn’t spending writing books.

a) SciFi/Fantasy: I've recommended Lessons in Magic and Disaster by @charliejane.bsky.social to so many friends. This book made me gasp multiple times with just how real it felt. And it's about witches
