I cleaned out our chest freezer a few days ago and threw a big pile of ice out in the yard, and Louie's been having some fun with it. He's 9 months old and still acts like a silly puppy.

I snagged a few quick shots of our elusive Anna's hummingbird today. She's probably the same feisty little one who survived last winter here, through single-digit nights.

We always have to keep all of our shoes and slippers (and sandals, boots, socks, books, tv remotes, and phones) secured away from Louie, or he'll steal them in a heartbeat. Sometimes I think he's more Gremlin than dog...

Our 3 'Sun Valley' Red Maple trees, just starting to turn.
These were planted 4 years ago, and are doing great. And a big plus with this Maple variety- they're seedless.

We found these #fossils at the Stonerose fossil bed in Republic, WA about 15 years ago. It's a 48 million-year old shale outcrop where (for a small fee) you can go split rocks apart; nothing like fossil-hunting to make you feel like a kid again.
These are maybe Serviceberry and Bald Cypress leaves.
