I mean, it's not just one man's day rate. There's a whole investigation. If that's being done properly everybody who handled the document needs to be spoken to and their communications about it needs to be assessed, if it's done properly. If it costs less than a nurses annual salary I'll be shocked

Fair enough I suppose. I just find it frustrating that we're spending so much money on stuff like this. Incidentally, on the same day a hiring freeze has been placed on my gf's understaffed NHS trust because they need to save money 🤷♂️

Sure, but it's human error. Do we need an investigation to determine that somebody made a mistake? The answer is to be more thorough on checking a) the time it should be released; and b) the current time or the time you've set for it to go live automatically. But, errors happen because we are human.

I can't remember if I saw it on tv or read it somewhere the other week, but I came across a chef who was saying that to cook like a chef, add as much butter as you dare and then double it.

Is it really worth spending money on something that will happen to all of us at least once in our lives, albeit far less publicly? Who hasn't shown up at the wrong time (I once managed a week late for a party) or hit send on an email that wasn't quite ready. It's a mistake, but that's life. Move on.

I think the most interesting question about this is how it will be enforced? If they want us to all have trackers, then I'm going back to petrol. I expect they want us to declare our mileage on a form, which feels ripe for fraud.

That's a little unfair on lay magistrates. I think most of them genuinely want to do a good job and try to. But, most lack the training to understand why it's important to follow the law of evidence properly & that's not helped by legal advisors with no real world experience of giving legal advice.

Depends on the DJ. I had a very angry DJ shout at me that she couldn't understand why anybody pleads not guilty in her court. I don't think I helped her blood pressure by suggesting it might be time she gave up judging!!

This is tricky because cases in which miscarriages are more likely to be examined are more serious allegations and therefore almost always jury trials anyway. Experientially, and as someone who normally prosecutes, I've experienced surprising convictions in the Mags, but never in the Crown Court.
