there has to be a threshold when you move from “site did evil thing” to just covering “evil site” when it does actual newsworthy things. i think that’s important b/c it signals to readers acceptance of what it’s really become. if it’s an online service, it is what its users do and are allowed to do.

i think there’s breakout stories worth hitting and maybe this is one but i also remember there was a point when i asked an editor when we were going to stop covering “x does terrible thing” and just start generally treating that as part of its business model. but that was a long, long time ago.

my grandparents slept in two bedrooms a lot because my grandfather was in the army for a long time and always got up 4-5 hours before my grandmother.
