Martinez spoke in DC last week:

“On Friday, I was teaching the young children at the Montessori School, and we were singing and dancing...On Saturday, my own government was calling me a domestic terrorist, and I was in federal detention centers with the bullet holes all over my body.”

Moving backward on this should be shocking and unacceptable.

Congratulations, boys. You found a way to be even weirder than the time you asked us to feel joy about the new Vance baby and optimism about the "range of choices open to women in modern life."
Editorial: A baby at 1 Observatory Circle
A new life is a reason for hope, a moment that invites optimism about the future. We wish Usha and the Vance family well.

This could be about any number of people and institutions but in this case I wrote it about the Chicago Tribune editorial board.

The Trib claims that most people would probably support deportation without the "bureaucratic hoops of obtaining a judicial warrant."

Politico's source says warrants are "the key operational thing that [deputy chief of staff] Stephen Miller and the crew do not want to budge on."

Yikes 😬

PS To call a judicial warrant a "bureaucratic hoop" means you don't understand justice or law. Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

And look I'm a whistle mom. We are all whistle moms now.

But you have to understand what it looks like when people SUDDENLY and URGENTLY want to involve themselves and this is something we all have to work together on figuring out.

Paraphrasing someone I spoke to but "if we don't know you then why do you think you're in charge of how we do things with our families?"

The person who said this is part of a visible immigrant community that's active in school and civic life but the whistle moms don't talk to them on the regular.

I would like ongoing updates about this if that's not too much trouble

Chicago's encampment closures are ‘unconscionable’ - Chicago Reader
