On June 24, my mentally ill brother in law shot and killed my nephews, lit his house on fire, and killed himself. He used a gun purchased legally in 2022

In 2023 he was involuntarily committed. He also had incidents where the police were called for suicidal threats

This shouldn’t be controversial. Even the most ardent 2A supporter should support this effort. Yet the NC legislature is going in the opposite direction with firearm regulations.

Law enforcement have few tools available to remove handguns, even when a person is a clear threat.

About 25 of the victims remembered at the memorial were women. Nearly all of them were shot by their husbands or boyfriends.

I knew it was a problem. I didn’t know how big the problem is.

We need red flag laws in NC badly. Get guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and the mentally ill.

On Saturday we attended a memorial for my nephews and others lost to violence in NC the the NC Victims Assistance Network Memorial Garden.

About 65 names were read. Each of them had people who lived and miss them.

I'm skimming, but this paragraph stood out:

I listened to a few minutes of trumps speech to the military leadership. I had to bail when he started talking about beautiful paper and how much he lives his signature.
