I’m not going to engage in a pedantic argument about small “l” vs large “L” liberalism, progressivism, their changing definitions, and where socialism fits.

Nearly every single significant social policy arose from (traditional) liberal ideas. Collective bargaining, child labor laws, women’s suffrage, civil rights, voting rights, same-sex marriage, etc…

They passed because they help the most people and are popular.

This also puts U.S. troops at greater risk of similar treatment by foreign actors.

A few Navy nuclear engineers I know who are cycling out of the service are being recruited hard by data center operators and hyper scalers like Google, Equinix, and AWS. Top recruiters used to be utilities and energy companies, but the data centers are pursuing their own nuke permits.
