Today, Freya experienced a sudden medical crisis. I found her lying limp and barely responsive. When we got her to the vet, her pulse, BP, and blood sugar were all dangerously low. Vet said if we'd waited an hour, she might not have survived.

Huh. Good question. I think for newbies, the more distant and esoteric, the harder it may be to grasp, so the section on Civilization (and therefore closest to the present) is probably the most vital. Anthropology > History > Communication.

Understanding the who/how/why of culture is overlooked.

In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.
